Culinary art meets handmade glass
On June 20–21, Denmark’s largest cooking competition, Sol over Gudhjem, takes place at the harbor in Gudhjem.
The level is world-class, with some of Denmark’s best chefs coming together for this spectacular event, which attracts thousands of enthusiastic locals, tourists, foodies, and journalists from around the globe every year.
This year, Baltic Sea Glass is sponsoring the dessert competition, and owner Michael Brandt shares:
– As part of the competition, the dessert chefs are asked to create a drink that pairs with their dessert. That’s a new twist. It’s also new that the desserts are being prepared on the main stage. Previously, that part was somewhat hidden away. But desserts and drinks are really trending right now, so it makes perfect sense to highlight them – and we’re excited to see how our glassware will be used.
Of course, the best impression of our glasses and pitchers is still found by visiting us in person. Just 3 km south of Gudhjem, at Melstedvej 47, you’ll find our studio and workshop – where you can watch the glassblowers in action, Monday to Saturday between 10 AM and 3 PM.
