A guardian angel brings positive energy
At Baltic Sea Glass, the studio’s glassblowers are currently busy creating beautiful little glass angels by hand. These handcrafted guardian angels are popular as a special souvenir from Bornholm, but they are also shipped in large numbers to customers across Europe. In particular, German customers have developed a fondness for the small angels. In early 2025, sales suddenly surged in a rather unexpected way.
Michael Brandt, owner of Baltic Sea Glass, explains:
–Suddenly, sales through our website took off, even though we hadn’t done anything special. Most of the orders came from Germany. Naturally, we were curious about what had happened, and then we discovered that our angel had been featured in the German Advent calendar Der andere Advent – a publication that, apparently, is seen by a great many Germans.
The guardian angel is available with wings in a variety of colours, each carrying its own symbolic meaning. Blue represents calm, faith, and stability – trust and inner peace. Purple symbolizes spirituality, dignity, and deep insight. White stands for peace and the divine.
One thing is clear in every case, says Michael Brandt:
– The guardian angel means a great deal to many people. Some buy one as a thank-you gift for someone who looked after their house, dog, or cat while they were on holiday. But I also had a German customer who told me that she had finally found the angel she wanted to protect her late son. Stories like that are truly touching.
